The Holy Trinity: The Holy Ghost or Spirit is depicted as a white dove

The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God. In mainstream Trinitarian Christian beliefs he is the third person of The Holy Trinity. As part of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit is equal with God the Father and with God the Son.

The Christian theology of the Holy Spirit was the last piece of Trinitarian theology to be fully developed. There is also greater diversity in Christian theology of the Spirit than there is in the theology of the Son or of the Father.

According to Roman Catholic theology the primary work of the Holy Spirit is through the church. According to the Catechism: "The mission of Christ and the Holy Spirit is brought to completion in the Church, which is the Body of Christ and the Temple of the Holy Spirit. [...] Through the Church's sacraments, Christ communicates his Holy and sanctifying Spirit to the members of his Body."
