The 15th annual Hoodoo Heritage Festival, produced by the Association of Independent Spiritual Churches and staffed by members of the Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers provides a high-energy space for folk-magic learners, experienced home practitioners, professional readers and conjure doctors, and interested members of the public to get together, socialize, and take hands-on workshops from experienced members of AIRR and other well-known rootworkers.

Inaugurated in 2008, the Hoodoo Heritage Festival was created by Ms. Robin to broaden the scope and outreach of the conjure community -- and the huge amount of interest in hoodoo since then is a testament to her efforts. From 2008 through 2019, the Association of Independent Spiritual Churches sponsored an annual Hoodoo Heritage Festival in Forestville, California. In 2020 and 2021, due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic, the AISC Festival went virtual and was held online via Zoom. The 2022 Virtual Hoodoo Heritage Festival continues this new format, with 10 virtual workshops over a two-day period.

THE VIRTUAL HOODOO HERITAGE FESTIVAL, 2022

August 13th and 14th, 2022

Great Teachers, True Fellowship, and ... the Goody Boxes!

Our zoom classes in African American folk magic, root work, and hoodoo proved so popular that we will be hosting a third Virtual Hoodoo Heritage Festival on August 13th and 14th, 2022, under the auspices of Ms. Robin, Papa Gee, Papa Newt, and Lady Muse. These Zoom workshops, accompanied by live chat and physical "goody-boxes" filled with spiritual supplies and printed books, teach you practical tricks and tips to take your conjure work to a new level of confidence and knowledge. In addition to spell casting and divination, we also showcase the mystery and magic of world-wide folk religions, and you can also book private readings with members of Hoodoo Psychics during the event.

    • Catherine Yronwode

Doll-babies, dollies, voodoo dolls, and poppets are names given to figural images intended to represent living beings upon whom a spell is to be cast or for whom spiritual work is to be performed. Doll magic is nearly universal, so understanding a brief overview of its history is a good place to start, after which you will receive instructions on how to make dolls from a wide variety of materials, how to ink them to a subject, and how to work them so that, by sympathetic magic, what you do to the doll happens to the person in question;

People love to collect and use authentic, traditional, and ancestral spells, but when you ask yourself why certain forms of altar-work can be so effective, you are also bound to ask yourself, "Who came up with this spell in the first place, and why has it become popular? The ConjureMan, a reader and rootworker with more than a decade of hands-on experience serving clients, has the answers to this question. In this amazing workshop he will help you look beyond "the spells" and into the methodology and rhythm of spell crafting itself. In this class you will learn the secrets of how to design your own spells, using ConjureMan's classic Three-Part Spell Method, and then, under his guidance, you will perform a three-part spell, for which all the materials have been supplied. This workshop is guaranteed to take your understanding or rootwork to the next level, so don't miss it.
